Application for approval submitted in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act

Rostock EnergyPort cooperation GmbH has reached an important milestone in the development of the HyTechHafen Rostock project with its production facility for green hydrogen. With the submission of the application for approval, technical descriptions of the planned plant layout and extensive nature conservation reports on protection and environmental compatibility are now available.
“We would like to thank everyone involved in the application process for their expert contributions and commitment to the project,” says Managing Director Christian Böttcher. Once the application has been reviewed for completeness, it will be forwarded by the approval authority to the relevant sectoral authorities for review and comment.
Michael Wurzel also emphasizes the significance of this step: “We have achieved a great success with the submission of the application. Nevertheless, further project development remains challenging, as complex energy industry and regulatory conditions must be taken into account. This makes it all the more important for political decision-makers to address the current challenges of the ‘green hydrogen world’ in a timely manner.”
According to current plans, the production facility is scheduled to start operation at the end of 2028. The plant will feed green hydrogen into the German hydrogen core network, among others, via a pipeline connection. Local consumption will be made possible via trailer filling station. The investment decision has not yet been made.
